a tree should be for life, not just for christmas
Did you know?
REAL Trees CAN HAVE A POSITIVE IMPACT
Unlike artificial trees, a real Christmas tree naturally absorbs CO2 and releases oxygen
An average tree absorbs around 10kg of CO2 each year
Real trees provide a habitat for wildlife
Around 8 million real trees are sold in the UK each year, But…….
250 tonnes of real Christmas trees are thrown away in landfills every year
The Carbon Trust state that a natural six-foot Christmas tree without roots, disposed of into landfill generates a carbon footprint of around 16kg of CO2
A six-foot Christmas tree made from plastic has a carbon footprint of around 40kg of CO2
Many trees which are dug up (as opposed to cut), planted in a Christmas bucket and brought indoors do not tolerate the severe change in ecology and temperature, and will not go on to survive replanting after spending 3 unusual weeks in an indoor bucket.
a more sustainable christmas
RENT A Christmas tree for the festive season
Our range of pot grown Christmas trees can be rented for the festive season – delivered and collected by our Nursery Elves, and returned to the field to breathe for the rest of the year.
MAKE A POSITIVE CARBON DIFFERENCE
This means you can help decrease the carbon emission but also allow your tree to absorb another 10kg of carbon in the next year.
PRE-DELIVERY
All the trees are acclimatised at our nursery before being delivered to your home between 12th – 15th December.
This ensures they are ready for the temperature increase when brought inside.
AFTER-COLLECTION
We will collect your tree between 5th-7th January, re-acclimatise them so that they are ready for the colder outdoors weather and then return them to their field to purify our air for another year.
The wildlife at Lanjeth will enjoy living in and around your tree during the year.

How it Works
1. OUR TREES
Our trees are Nordmann Firs, grown only in pots, and renown for not dropping their needles.
Tree sizes are between 100-150cm, plus a pot which is around 30cm – so in ‘old money’ the overall height will be between 4 and 6 feet.
2. Choose YOUR TREE
You can secure the rental of your tree by booking online here or when you visit us at Lanjeth.
We will apply a label and look after it for you.
3. delivery date
We will deliver your tree between 12th-15th December.
4. RETURN date
To provide the trees with the best care and longevity, we aim to collect trees between 5th-7th January. (if you are not going to be in, you can leave them in a secret spot for us to collect … but don’t tell anyone!!)
25 days is the figure we use a guide for how long a tree can stay indoors.
Caring For Your Tree
These trees should be simple to look after, but as a living thing they have some basic needs.
Careful watering is one of the key principles in tree care: they will need an average of 500mls (just under a pint) of water each day.
Be careful not to over-water – simply check the top of the soil daily and ensure it is damp but not saturated.
Try and keep your tree at a constant temperature – avoid placing it next to log burners, fires, radiators etc. If you have underfloor heating, you should raise the pot off the ground to minimise pot drying.
Please do not trim, shape or prune the tree. There is a time and place to do this, but it is not at Christmas time. However, you are more than welcome to come and join us when we do this back at Lanjeth!
Decorations and lights will look great – but please avoid sprays and chemicals such as fake snow, tinsel or glitter etc. The trees do not like this at all.
Don’t worry, we will supply you with a care sheet to refer to at home.
