Frequently Asked Questions

How much is entry?

There’s no admission charge for the Water Gardens, Nursery or Café. We simply ask that visitors buy at least a drink or snack or pop £1 per person (more if you wish) into the Donations Churn beside the café—our only income for ongoing restoration.

Are dogs welcome?

Absolutely. Dogs (and the occasional cat!) are welcome on leads. Please keep pets under control around birds and waterfowl, and use the bins provided for waste.

Can we bring our own food?

Sorry, no. Because entry is free, the café funds site maintenance. Please enjoy food and drinks purchased on‑site.

Can wheelchair users or visitors with limited mobility access the gardens?

Yes! Accessibility is one of our core values. All‑weather paths link the main areas, and the café and toilet are fully accessible. Surfaces may be softer after heavy rain, so take care.

Are there toilets?

Yes—one fully accessible toilet with baby‑changing facilities.

Do you sell plants?

We stock a rotating selection of garden perennials plus an extensive range of aquatic plants. Our 130 ponds showcase many mature specimens in their natural setting.

Are you open on bank holidays?

We’re open every bank holiday except Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, Boxing Day and New Year’s Day.
